Nebraska stock dog association annual meeting

The Nebraska Stock Dog Association held its annual meeting October 20, 2007 in McCook.
The meeting was held at the Village Inn. President Tim Gifford called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. Also in Attendance were Shalee Paxton, Rudy Starke,
Bill & Judy Stone, Ken & Bonnie Mitts, Daniel Korf, Fen Danielson, Ron & Charlie Collins, Murray Ketteler, Bill Halligan, and Steve Peterson.
Secretary/Treasure Shalee Paxton read the 2006 annual meeting minutes. A motion to approve was made by Fen and seconded by Bill. Motion carried. The
treasurers report was given. The December 2006 balance is $3383, with $700 in outstanding bills for High Point Dog Award Prizes and Newsletter expenses.
The present 2007 balance is $3,580.68 with all expenses paid.
REPORTS:
Fen Danielson reported on trials from Tingley IA that had a good crowd and was lots of fun. Rudy Starke reported on the western trials.
DISCUSSION ITEMS:
Rudy Starke and Ken Mitts brought up discussion on withholding money from each run to cover non handler accidental death of
livestock at a trial. Rudy motioned to charge $1.00 a run to cover accidental death of livestock, Bonnie Mitts seconded. An
amendment to the motion that the money be held in a separate account was included. The $1.00 charge will be added to all entry
fees and be held in a separate account was voted on and passed. And the Board of Directors will be the controller of this money.
Motion Passed.
Tim brought up an item for discussion at the request of John Holman who was unable to attend. John would like guidelines for added money and discretion as
to how the money is spent. It was discussed that added money is left up to the trial coordinator for each individual trial.
NEW BUSINESS:
Bill Halligan discussed the National Cattle Dog Finals to be held May 14-18 at Torrington, Wyoming. He stated that the committee is working on getting
sponsorships, advertising for the event, etc. They are looking for volunteers to help with the event, if anyone can help, please contact Bill or Tim. The course
and cattle were discussed. Tim stated that the National Cattle Committee is working to improve the course from last year.
Tim asked committee members to think of people and businesses they know that may be willing to advertise and support the National Finals. Fen stated he
might have contacts in Lincoln and will check and let Tim know.
Bill said the committee is also working on getting individual sponsors for each dog in the finals.
Ron said that if someone would talk to ABC before February, they may help with the cattle charge. Check your ABC newsletter for your state and the
amounts available.
Election of officers was next on the agenda.
Dan made the motion to keep Tim and Shalee as President and Secretary, respectively. Rudy seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Shalee nominated Charlie as Vice President and it was seconded by Bonnie. Motion carried. Charlie Collins was voted as Vice President.
Bonnie made the Motion to nominate Fen Danielson, Dannie Steager, John
Holman and Bill Stone as Directors. Tim Gifford discussed retaining the four
directors for 2008. Bill Stone made the motion and Bonnie seconded to keep the
four directors the same for 2008. Motion carried.
High Point Dog Awards were announced:
Open Class was Tim Gifford and Patch
Pro-Novice was Shalee Paxton and Oreo
Novice Class was Jon Hightshoe and Rusty
NEW BUSINESS:
The Torrington Trial scheduled for February 9th and 10th needs to be sanctioned before the board meets again. Bill moved and Fen seconded that the trial
be approved. Motion carried. Tim Gifford and Steve Coons will be in charge of the trial.
A motion to adjourn was made by Bill, Dan seconded. Meeting adjourned at 8:30.

On April 9, 2008 at 8:30p.m. Nebraska Stock Dog Association board members held a conference call to approve the up coming trials.
Roll call was answered by Charlie Collins, John Holman, Tim Gifford, Fen Danielson, Bill Stone & Shalee Paxton.
John Holman made the motion that we sanction all 17 trials. All of the 2 day trials will count as separate individual trials and each person can
count there best 10 trials toward the high point dog of the year. Fen 2nd the motion and all voted to approve that there will be 17 trials with
each person counting there best 10 for high point dog.
Shalee Paxton gave a secretary report with the balance on the checkbook of $4,784.42 with no outstanding bills.
It was discussed that the NSDA would donate to the hospitality tent again this year. And Tim Gifford brought up that Bonnie Mitts would like a
$100.00 towards handlers bags at the finals.
John made motion that we give the hospitality tent $150.00 this year instead of the $200.00 like last year. Then we also donate a $100.00 to
Bonnie Mitts towards the handler bags.
Fen 2nd the motion.
Motion Approved. By a roll call vote.
Bill made a motion to adjourn the meeting and it was 2nd by John
